The Otesaga Resort Hotel consistently receives high praise for its historic charm, stunning lake views, and exceptional staff. Guests frequently highlight the warm hospitality, luxurious accommodations, and the hotel’s unique atmosphere, making it a memorable experience for both leisure travelers and special events. However, some guests have noted higher prices and occasional service issues, particularly related to dining reservations.

We stayed with my wife for 3 nights just for a break. We had a Suite with Lake view. The room was great although the heating was slow to warm the space. We asked for extra blankets that solved the problem. The TV was totally infuriating so we gave up. The staff were great all together. As an advice or heads up to future visitors , make sure when you ask for reservations to either the Hawkeye or the 1909, INSIST on the time you want to dine and do not take any other times they give you. We asked for 6pm and 6,30pm respectively and they "were fully booked". We took the hours they gave us and we were eating alone. We complained and the manager came profusely apologizing but that didn't help. Unfortunately that left a bitter taste to us, so we decided not to eat there again and found other very nice , busy and bustling restaurants. Overall the hotel was great. Shame on that experience we had.

This past fall, I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at The Otesaga Resort Hotel. The Otesaga's exceeded my expectations! The staff was excellent, the food was amazing, and the location was the perfect backdrop for this couple to become husband and wife. I would recommend this venue to anyone who loves the history of Cooperstown, the unique charm of the hotel, and anyone who wants an amazing wedding experience. I was blown away at how kind the staff was to me personally, and I look forward to capturing many more weddings here in the future!

Our stay at The Otesaga Resort Hotel was beyond amazing — truly one of the best hotel experiences you could ever have. They take care of every detail and spoil you like you’re family. Dawn, who works there, goes completely above and beyond — she personally made sure every detail to surprise my husband was met, which meant the world to us. And honestly, every single staff member does the same. No matter where you see them or what they’re doing, everyone is kind, professional, and amazing. Many of the staff have been there for over ten years, which really says everything about this place. They treat everyone with respect, they appreciate you, and you genuinely feel it. The coffee shop in the lobby has the best coffee and pastries. I love grabbing my coffee, sitting by the fireplace, and just relaxing — it’s pure peace. This hotel makes you feel cared for in a way that’s hard to describe. It’s simply the best place to go, worth every cent, and somewhere we’ll keep coming back to again and again. ?

What a beautiful hotel. The lobby is spacious with seating areas. There is a gorgeous view of the lake. Our room was large and comfortable with a nice bathroom. I would stay there again. There is also a spa and a small gift shop with some food for purchase.

I recently stayed at The Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown for four nights while attending my friends Jack and Caroline’s wedding, and I can honestly say it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. I stayed with my best friend and best man, Peter, and we were both blown away by the comfort and spaciousness of our room. The suites are incredibly generous in size, making it easy to relax and unwind after a busy day. The staff at The Otesaga were absolutely lovely—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Every interaction, from check-in to dining, was seamless and made us feel at home. I particularly loved using the resort’s gym; it was well-equipped, clean, and perfect for staying on top of my workouts while traveling. Breakfast each morning was a true highlight. The breakfast bar was stocked with a wide variety of fresh options, and the made-to-order omelettes were exceptional—definitely the best I’ve had at a hotel! Of course, the main event—the wedding—was breathtaking. The coordination and attention to detail were flawless, and the setting couldn’t have been more beautiful. From the ceremony to the reception, everything ran perfectly, making it a truly magical experience. Overall, The Otesaga Resort Hotel is a top-notch destination for both leisure stays and special events. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely return in the future!

At every single interaction at The Otesaga the staff was incredible - genuinely happy and willing to help/serve you quickly. This was our first time there and the best compliment is that we will be back. Just one story, but the rest were the same in spirit. We went for a slightly long late morning walk on a cold Thanksgiving day and came into the Hawkeye Grill at about 11 a.m. They don't open till 11:30 a.m., but sure, they could serve me. I think his words were more like "I won't let you not have a drink". Such a great attitude from everyone, doorman, front desk, hostess, wait staff, etc.

Went here for an annual meeting and was blown away with cooperstown as a whole. Didnt imagine such a quaint little place with such class and wealth would be located in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful views, great rooms. Highly recommend staying here if you have the chance!!

The Otesaga is a beautiful hotel! Every staff member was more helpful than the next. I stayed back in February for a weekend and can’t wait to go back. The food was delicious, the rooms were spacious, clean, and absolutely beautiful. The coffee shop is the perfect spot to grab a coffee and sit by the fireplace in the lobby — so relaxing! You can truly feel the history in this building. Everything about this place is amazing.

Very nice and older hotel. Was told it is 116 years old. It seems to be kept up well and they seemed to have plenty of staff on hand. My room was certainly not cheap although I seemed to have maybe received a little bit of a better rate when talking to the person making the reservations. Slower time of year I'm sure. Found out why when I came in. My room was pretty darn small. Was not expecting this but since my wife is not with me it's fine. Room is well stocked but check ahead of time if you will have a fridge or not. I did not however the hotel brought one up for me. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. I heard absolutely no noise during the night. Unsure if I had no neighbors or it is just that quiet of a room. One issue with the room was the heater. It was cool in the room when I checked in and getting the temps up took a long time and I would have taken some more heat but it did not seem possible. Bathroom was chilly and never would really warm up much at all. There is some kind of wall mounted heater in there but it puts out so little heat that it basically is a waste. Wi fi worked well but the TV was the most confusing hotel system I have ever seen in my life. I really never did figure it out and just turned it off for good. The breakfast on day one was their buffet and it was extremely good. $28 but go A la carte and I bet it costs just as much as the buffet. Nice staff in here as well . You won't regret eating this buffet. Lunch was at the hotel and I had the Fish and Chips. Really wish restaurants would not serve this fish on top of the fries. Keep them separate please. Good fish and fries though and wait staff. Overall a good stay and some friendly staff. Due to off-season traffic was not bad and getting into the Hall of Fame was easy.

Celebrated my 40th birthday this weekend, and I am so glad to see that returning to this historic hotel after over a decade, it remains cozy and traditional. The entire staff was attentive and kind. Dinner at 1909 was wonderful, the food was perfection. The bartender at Hawkeye was kind and inviting, my husband and his parents had a wonderful night. I had a much needed relaxing massage at the spa, everything was a perfect celebration. Don't change a thing!
